Chisel This! is a web-series by Mat4yo that tackles lyricism with a unique approach. There are several types of episodes:

Making fun of terrible lyrics and talking about how to fix them (including popular raps and rap battles)

Talking about the writing process of original content and the meaning behind it

Discussing the chiseling process of a rap or rap battle

Rhyme Challenges! Where audience members suggest a word or word phrase that Mat4yo rhymes some bars with on the spot.

 

Chisel - verb - to rewrite, revise, or rethink lyrics with the intention of keeping the intended meaning. Some forms of chiseling require complete destruction of an idea.

Mat4yo is an 18 year old rapper and writer who created the webseries, Chisel This!. Aside from the webseries, he works on original music that he posts on Soundcloud. His YouTube Channel Mat4yo has over 600 subscribers and is slowly growing. Most of his recognition comes from working with various rap battle series across YouTube. Mainly, he is a writer for Epic Rap Battle Parodies. He created the show after countless disasters of failed lyrical attempts that he could no longer bear to watch unfold. Hopefully, with the influence of Chisel This!, the community at large can do better justice to the essence of rap battling. Mat4yo hopes his message of honorable lyricism spreads beyond the rap battle community and into the minds of all rappers, eradicating the world of cacophonous nonsense that comes from the mouths of money makers.
